Newberry completes Richard Rendleman Invitational in fourth place

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Newberry College men's golf team completed the Richard Rendleman Invitational in fourth place after round two on Tuesday. The Indians shot a second day 289 at the par-71, 6,665-yard Country Club of Salisbury golf course.

A six stroke improvement over Monday's 295 helped the Indians jump Lander University after Newberry began play on Tuesday in a three-way tie for fifth place. Georgia College and State University won the tournament with a team stroke total of 572; four-over par.

Individually, freshman Daniel Stanley (Inman, S.C.) completed play tied for second place with a two-day total of 140; two-under par. Stanley finished just one stroke behind tournament champion Brad Robinson from Carson-Newman College.

Newberry freshmen Ben Lown (North Augusta, S.C.) and Stephen Holmes (Chapin, S.C.) completed play tied for 23rd with a total of 147, while sophomore Brandon Burnside (North Augusta, S.C.) tied for 46th with a 151.

Freshman John Allen Meetze (Chapin, S.C.) finished tied for 52nd after a 152 stroke total over two rounds.

Newberry golf will next take the links March 8-9 as the Indians travel to Greeneville, Tenn. to compete in the Tusculum College Spring Invitational.
