Newberry men's golf announce fall schedule for 2007

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry College athletic department and head men’s golf coach Brian McCants announced the 2007 fall portion of the men’s golf schedule on Thursday. The Indians will play four tournaments in the fall, including the Mid-Carolina Invitational on September 15 at the Mid-Carolina Club; Newberry’s home course.

The Indians open up play on September 9-11 at Kiawah Island, S.C. at the Kiawah Island Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina – Aiken. The tournament is a Sunday through Tuesday event.

The following Saturday, September 15, Newberry plays on home turf at the Mid-Carolina Invitational. The tournament is just a one-day affair at the Mid-Carolina Club.

Then, another Sunday through Tuesday tournament is on schedule for the Indian golf team as Newberry heads up to Raleigh, N.C. for The Dogfight at The Neuse. Held September 16-18 at The Neuse golf course, the Indians will complete four days on the links in a row and seven out of ten.

Newberry golf will take a breather before competing in it’s final tournament of the fall season, the University of North Alabama Classic at the Blackberry Country Club in Florence, Ala. on October 14-16.

The Indian golf team returns five upperclassmen including seniors Michael Edwards and Martin Gasque for the 2007-08 season. Juniors Billy Burrows, Colby Hyduke, and Donald Hadley return along with four sophomores and seven freshmen.
