Indians Tied for Eighth at Tusculum Invitational

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. Newberry College shot a first-round 311, good for a tie at eighth place at the Tusculum Invitational, which is being held at the par 71, 6,733-yard Links Hill Country Club.

Grand Valley State University leads the 15-team tournament with a team score of 288.  Lewis University follows with a 296 while USC Upstate, Saginaw Valley State, and Georgia Southwestern round out the top five.

Individually for the Indians, Harold Turner and Sean Collard are both tied for 18th with a first-round four-over par 75.  Brandon Burnside shot a 79 on day one while Martin Gasque and Michael Edwards round out the Newberry scoring with a 82 and 83 respectively.

Charlie Hawes of Lincoln Memorial University is first in the individual totals with a 69.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday afternoon.
