Second day of Super Regional not kind to Newberry
Tuesday, May 2, 2006 | by Indians slip 42 strokes behind leader and 18 strokes out of playoff contention

CONCORD, N.C. - Day two of the NCAA Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional saw defending national champion USC Aiken continue to play well while the rest of the Southeast field, including Newberry College, slipped 20 or more strokes behind the Pacers.  Much like Monday, the Indians struggled with holes one through nine, but put together a respectable performance on the back nine.

Newberry currently sits 18 strokes off the fourth- and fifth-best teams in the super regional, Armstrong Atlantic State and Georgia College and State.  The top five teams in the region will advance to the national tournament in two weeks.  Coker College (+13) and Pfeiffer University (+19) are currently the top two squads from the Atlantic Region.
