NEWBERRY, S.C. - With their performance following the South Atlantic Conference Championships, the Newberry men's golf team practically re-wrote the all-time record book for team records.  The 2006 Indians took over the top spot in four categories and they moved into second in another.

Five golfers represented Newberry at the SAC Championships, including freshman Billy Burrows (Bluffton, S.C.), junior Justin Chrisley (Newberry, S.C.), junior Daniel Lee (Lincolnton, Ga.), junior Hunter Mengel (Stone Mountain, Ga.), and junior Brian Rush (Duncan, S.C.).  Each of these five athletes contributed to Newberry's record-setting performance.

Newberry's second round team score of 288 at the SAC Championships was good enough for the top spot for team low 18 holes in the Newberry record book.  Their two-round mark of 589 put them in second for team low 36 holes, while their final tournament total of 888 put them in first for team low 54 holes.  Newberry's three-round 888 betters the previous record for low 54 holes by 10 strokes.

Additionally, the team set a record for team season stroke average, with a mark of 305.95 over 20 rounds of play.
