Men’s golf competes in the Kiawah Island Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Newberry men's golf team, after sitting in sixth place after day one, took ninth place at the Kiawah Island Invitational hosted by USC Aiken at the Cougar Point Golf Course.  Aiken, the defending NCAA Division II national champions, edged second-place Coker College by three strokes.

Newberry finished 31 strokes off the lead, and just three strokes behind South Atlantic Conference opponent Carson-Newman.  Individually, Hunter Mengel (Stone Mountain, Ga.) paced the Indians, finishing five over par and tied for 11th in the tournament.
