HICKORY, N.C. - Here are recaps of the men's and women's Food Lion South Atlantic Golf Championships after day one.  Both  teams have completed two rounds of play, with tomorrow's single round deciding the champions.

Newberry's women are within striking distance of pace-setting Catawba at two strokes back.  Aubrey Mosley (Irmo, S.C.) is the course leader by one stroke.  Stephanie Hemann (Brooklyn, Ohio) and Eva Cormann (Laaber, Germany) are also in the top ten.  Mosley has won this tournament before but has a stiff challenger in Paige Haverty from Catawba.

On the men's side, both Brian Phillips (Watertown, N.Y.) and Hunter Mengel (Snellville, Ga.) stand at +6 after two rounds, tied for 13th.  The team is in sixth place, 24 strokes off the leader, Presbyterian.  Fourth and fifth places are only seven and four strokes away, and anything can happen in a day of golf.  Look for Newberry to make a run toward the top half in tomorrow's action.
