PROSPERITY, S.C. – The first annual golf tournament benefiting the Newberry College golf program was held just before Easter weekend and was a tremendous success, raising over $8,000. Many alumni, college staff, and families of the golf program participated in the event held at Mid-Carolina Country Club.
Todd White, a Furman University Athletic Hall of Fame golfer, was the featured speaker at the banquet following the tournament. He has competed in a U.S. Open and a U.S. Amateur, and was honored as the South Carolina Golf Association’s 2004 Player of the Year. Approximately 60 individuals attended the banquet.
The Newberry golf coaches gave a plaque to Lee Duncan, head golf professional at Mid-Carolina Country Club, to express appreciation for the support and generosity that he and his staff have shown to the program.
