WASHINGTON DC - Last weekend, Newberry alumnus Dondray Walker finished third out of 15 teams from around the world in the 2017 Red Bull Reign U.S. and World Finals.

His teammate Jonathan Maybank was coached at Georgetown High School by Newberry alumnus Kevin Branhan.

Walker and his team were selected after taking first place at the Red Bull Reign 3-on-3 Championships in Australia earlier this month.

Walker spent the past season playing in Australia for the McKinnon Cougars. He saw time in all 20 games and led the team with 32 three-pointers during the season.

During his time at Newberry, Walker was the 2011-2012 South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year, averaging 16.4 points and set the record for most three-pointers in a season with 80. Dondray was second on the team with 129 rebounds his junior year and earned a spot on the All-SAC First Team.

The DC Showstoppers were crowned the 2017 Red Bull Reign 3-on-3 World Finals champs after defeating Montenegro 14-10.
