Newberry welcomes the Tornados of Brevard into town

NEWBERRY – Newberry Wolves welcome the Tornados of Brevard College on Saturday, Jan. 16th with a tip off set for 4 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference battle.

Newberry split with Brevard last year, winning the first matchup on Nov. 22nd by a score of 101-72 but the Tornados came back in the second game and won 97-96.

Newberry will look to get back on track after a two game slid after a loss to Coker on Wednesday night by a score of 86-80. That is the fifth loss this year within 10 points for the Wolves.


  • Newberry shot 49% from the field and 40% from the three point marker while shooting 66.7% at the charity line.
  • Xavier Holmes led the way for the wolves offensively with 16 points while Brandon Taylorand Mitch Riggs each tallied 14 points.
  • The Wolves notched 28 rebounds and forced 15 turnovers.
  • Coker shot 48.5% from the field while going 12-14 at the free throw line.
