NEWBERRY - The Newberry College men's basketball team his the road on Saturday for a South Atlantic Conference matchup against the Tusculum Pioneers with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m.

Last time out, Newberry earned a big victory over the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears 81-66 inside Eleazer Arena. Demarkus Smith tallied 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Brandon Taylor poured in 13 points while snagging four rebounds. James Stepps contributed 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor, all from long distance.
On the season, Newberry has lost seven of its last nine games and are 1-2 in the month of February. The Wolves are led by Smith who contributes 16.9 points per game along with 4.3 rebounds per contest. Mitch Riggs adds 12.6 points per game along with his 3.7 rebounds per game. Taylor leads the Scarlet and Gray with 4.2 rebounds per outing.
The Pioneers were defeated by Newberry on January 3, 88-80 inside Eleazer Arena. On the season, they are led by Chase Mounce who tallies 16.9 points per game as well as 8.4 rebounds per contest. Javon Price adds 15.2 points per game along with a team-high 20 steals. Mason Fox also has registered 20 steals on the season to compliment his 4.63 assists per game.
Following the game on Saturday afternoon the Wolves travel to Queens on February 18 before returning home against Mars Hill on February 21 for Senior Day.
