NEWBERRY - On Wednesday evening the Newberry College men's basketball team hosts the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears inside Eleazer Arena with tipoff scheduled for 8 p.m.

Last time out the Wolves fell to No. 1 Lincoln Memorial inside Eleazer Arena 80-68. Newberry was outperformed 47-34 on the glass and yielded 26 points to Luquon Choice. Demarkus Smith tallied 17 points and Mitch Riggs poured in 15 points while adding five rebounds. Brandon Taylor contributed 12 points and three rebounds for the Wolves as well.

On the season for the Wolves, they've dropped seven of the last eight contests. Newberry went 4-5 in the month of January and are winless in February. Smith continues to pace the way for Newberry at 16.4 points per game along with 4.1 rebounds per outing. His 33 steals is good for second on the squad. Riggs contributes 12.6 points per game along with snagging 3.5 rebounds her game. Taylor pulls down a team-high 4.2 rebounds per game for the Scarlet and Gray.

The Bears come into the contest on Wednesday evening posting an 8-12 overall record and 6-10 SAC record. Lenoir-Rhyne won the first meeting on the season 92-86 in Hickroy on January 14, 2015. Rob Noyes led the way with a double-double, 23 points and 11 rebounds. On the year, Will Perry posts 14.3 points per game along with 2.8 rebounds per outing. Noyes leads the team with 8.7 rebounds to compliment his 10.8 points per game. 

The Wolves travel to Tusculum on February 14 for a weekend matchup with the Pioneers. In the first meeting, Newberry earned the 88-80 victory on January 3.
