NEWBERRY - On Saturday afternoon the Newberry College men's basketball team returns home to take on the No. 1 Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters at 4 p.m.

Last time out the Wolves lost to the Wingate Bulldogs 78-76 inside Cuddy Arena in Wingate, N.C. Newberry was led by Mitch Riggs who tallied 22 points on 9-of-19 shooting including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. James Stepp contributed 14 points and a career-high six rebounds in the loss. With the loss, Newberry has lost six of its last seven contests as well as only one win in its last six road contests dating back to Lincoln Memorial on December 15.

The Wolves went 4-5 in the month of January including a span of four straight losses. The Scarlet and Gray is continously led by Demarkus Smith who pours in 16.3 points per contest and 4.2 rebounds per outing. He is second on the team with 31 steals. Riggs is second on the squad with 12.5 points per game and snags 3.4 rebounds per game. Brandon Taylor leads the way on the glass with 4.3 rebounds per contest.

Lincoln Memorial enters Saturday's contest having dropped its first game on the year, a 87-72 loss versus Carson-Newman on Wednesday evening. The Railsplitters are uniamously the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in both the NABC and D2SIDA National Polls. They are led by Luquon Choice with 15.9 points per game along with his 3.0 rebounds per contest. Keenan Peterson leads the way for the Railsplitters on the glass with 7.9 rebounds per game along with his 10.0 points per game.

Following tonight's contest the Wolves host Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday February 11 at 8 p.m. Wednesday night is the Blue Out game for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Shirts will be available for $15 with proceeds and all donations going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
