No. 20/22 Newberry travels to Hickory for battle with Lenoir-Rhyne

NEWBERRY - Newberry survived against the Mars Hill Lions on Jan. 10, 108-100. The Wolves had a 14pt lead at halftime erased in the second half and had to comeback from a seven point deficit of their own. In OT, Newberry went 15/15 from the free-throw line. Demarkus Smith tallied a career-high 27pts in the victory

No. 20/22 Newberry continues their remarkable season as they take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. Smith leads the team with 15.6ppg along with Mitch Riggs who is averaging 12.4ppg and 3.1apg. Gerald Evans continues to lead the team with 4.3 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game as well as 27 steals on the year.

Lenoir-Rhyne is led by Will Perry who is averaging 18.5ppg this season, which is 2nd in the SAC. Perry also leads the team with 5.2 3-point field goals made on the year. On the glass, Rob Noyes leads the team and conference with 9.4 rebounds per game and is second in points-per-game with 11.6. Noyes also leads the Bears with 2.9 assists per game.

The Wolves travel to Brevard on Jan. 17 before they begin a three-game homestand on Jan. 21 against the Coker Cobras. These two teams will meet again on February 11 in Newberry.
