Newberry heads to Catawba on Tuesday evening

NEWBERRY - The Newberry College men's basketball team looks to continue their perfect 2014-15 campaign as they travel to Salisbury, North Carolina for a matchup against the Catawba Indians from Goodman Gymnasium with tipoff scheduled for 8 p.m.

With Mitch Riggs tallying 21 points and Dondray Walker adding 17 points, the Wolves cruised to a 29 point victory on Saturday afternoon inside Eleazer Arena against the Brevard Tornados, 101-72. On the season, Riggs has tallied a team-high 73 points and is shooting 51.1% from the field. Walker and Demarkus Smith are averaging 11.6 and 11.4 points per game respectively. Other scores for the Wolves on Saturday included James Stepp with a career-high 15 points and Smith adding 13 points of his own.

The Indians are led by Rakeen Brown at 19.3 ppg and dishing out 4.75 assists per game and KJ Arrington who averages 17.8ppg while grabbing 8.0 rebounds per game. Most recently, the Indians come into the contest having defeated Mars Hill at home 83-70 powered by Brown's 21 points while Arrington scored 15 points. In that game, Vismantas Marijosius was 3-4 from behind the arc and finished with 13 points for Catawba.

Looking ahead for the Wolves, they will hit the road on Friday November 28 taking on Southern Wesleyan at 7 p.m. then return home for three straight games to begin December.
