Newberry hits the road for first conference game

NEWBERRY - Following an 87-52 victory over the Allen University Yellow Jackets, the Newberry Wolves men's basketball team heads to Hartsville on Wednesday evening to open South Atlantic Conference play against the Coker College Cobras at 8 p.m. from the DeLoach Center.

Newberry (3-0) enters the contest having opened the season in Hartsville having defeated Erskine and North Greenville on back-to-back days. The Wolves have been led by Mitch Riggs, Brandon Taylor and James Ashby in each of its three contests thus far. Newcomer Hamish Burns has been consistent his first three games in a Wolves uniform tallying nine points in each contest, all from beyond the arc.

The Wolves enter Wednesday's contest having been recently ranked 4th in the D2SIDA Southeast Regional Rankings with fellow SAC member, Lincoln Memorial topping the poll.

Coker enters the game splitting its games at the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge, dropping its contest to North Greenville on Friday and defeating Erskine on Saturday night.
