INDIANAPOLIS - The Newberry College men's basketball team has moved up one spot and is ranked ninth in the second Southeast Region rankings of the season, which were released Wednesday afternoon.

At the time the rankings were calculated, the Wolves had an overall Division II and in-region record of 14-7 and are one of four South Atlantic Conference teams in the regional rankings.

The top five teams in the ranking remained the same, while Georgia Southwestern dropped one spot to seventh and Carson-Newman jumped three spots from ninth to sixth. Mount Olive fell from seventh to eighth and Barton moved into the rankings at 10th while Limestone fell out of the top 10.

The Wolves are in the top 10 of their region for the second time under head coach Dave Davis after making their first appearance since the next-to-last ranking of the 2009 season last week.

The Southeast region is comprised of the SAC, Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas. The three tournament champions of those leagues and the top five at-large teams following the conference tournaments qualify for the NCAA Division II Tournament in mid-March.
