SALEM, W. Va.- The Newberry College men's basketball team trekked up to West Virginia for the annual Joe Manchin Classic and opened their trip with a narrow 97-95 win over Daemen (N.Y.) College to move to 4-4 on the season.

Quayshun Hawkins (Columbia, S.C.) led the Wolves with 22 points and five rebounds, while Mitch Riggs (Langwarrin, Victoria, Australia) netted 18 points. Aegir Steinarsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) filled up the box score with 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals, while Dondray Walker (Fountain Inn, S.C.) scored 10 points.
