SWANNANOA, N.C. - Newberry College head men's basketball coach Dave Davis will be inducted into the inaugural class of the Warren Wilson College Athletics Hall of Fame this Friday, October 5, in conjunction with WWC's Homecoming festivities.

Davis was a member of the Owls' basketball team from 1979-83 and was the team captain in his senior season. He helped the 1981-82 and 1982-83 teams win regional championships and advance to the national tournament in both years.

Davis is entering his third season as Newberry's head coach and 22nd year as a collegiate head coach. He started his career as a head coach at Warren Wilson in 1991-92 and 1992-93. Since then, Davis has compiled a career win-loss record of 388-238 (.620) and is in the top 40 winningest active Division II coaches.

He has become known for his high-octane, high-pressure style of play as the Wolves set the South Atlantic Conference record for most three-pointers made in a season in 2011-12 and finished second in the nation in scoring, sixth in the nation in steals and 13th in the nation in steals.

Davis was previously head coach at Warren Wilson for two years, Barton for three years and Pfeiffer for 14 seasons.
