NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College men's basketball team recently completed its preseason team bonding events, entitled the "Indian Olympics." The week-long competition helped to build team unity and a strong bond of togetherness.

The team was paired into eight groups of two and competed in 12 events: Bench press, two-on-two basketball, free throws, three-pointers, football throw, tug-of-war, two swimming events, 100-, 800- and 1600-meter runs amd the final event, paintball.

Points were given to each team following each event. Ty Overmeyer and Tyler Fisher came out as the winners of the competition. Terrance Spillers and Grant Domsic came in second, while Matt Alexander and Stephane Bakinde came in third.

Coaches Jeremy Luther and Travis Dotterer also participated in the paintball portion of the competition. After witnessing the coaches' wardrobe following the event, it was clear that the team was the winner of the paintball competition.

The Indians open up the 2007-08 season on November 15, when they host 2007 NCAA Tournament participant Lander University.
