NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry College head men's basketball coach Jeremy Luther has finalized the team's 2007-08 schedule, it was announced today.

The first-year head coach will aim to earn his first career win at home in Eleazer Arena on November 15. The Indians will start the season against the Lander Bearcats at 7 p.m. that day. The scarlet and gray will then host North Georgia College and State for the first time ever on November 17.

After a two games on the road at Erskine and Francis Marion, Newberry returns home to face off against Limestone on Nov. 28. From there, the South Atlantic Conference schedule begins on December 1, when the Indians hit the road to play 2007 Elite Eight participant Wingate. Newberry won both meetings against the Bulldogs in 2006-07.

The Indians then embark on another tour of South Carolina with games at Coker, Lander and Limestone. The last game of 2007 occurs on December 17, when Newberry hosts Coker College.

Newberry begins 2008 at Carson-Newman on January 5 before returning home for conference games against Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne. After traveling to Lincoln Memorial on January 16, the Indians entertain non-conference opponent Claflin on January 19 and SAC foe Tusculum on January 23.

January wraps up with a road trip to Catawba College on January 26 and a home game against Brevard College on January 30. On February 2, the Indians begin their second trip through the South Atlantic Conference schedule when they host the Eagles of Carson-Newman.

A two-game road swing to Mars Hill (February 6) and Lenoir-Rhyne (February 9) is followed by a home game against Catawba on February 13. The Indians step out of the conference swing on February 16 for a game at Lees-McRae before returning to SAC play at Tusculum on February 20.

Newberry hosts Wingate on February 23, and travels to Brevard College on February 27. The Indians close out the season with Senior Day on March 1 against Lincoln Memorial University. The first round of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament takes place on campus sites on March 5, with the tournament semifinals on March 8 and 9 at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, N.C.

"We are loking forward to a great year," Luther said. "I feel that we have a solid non-conference schedule that will prepare us well for conference play."
