Burke named to ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team

BRISTOL, Conn. - Newberry College senior Tommy Burke of Newberry, S.C, has been named to the 2007 men's basketball ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District III College Division Second Team, it was announced today.

The senior guard has posted a 3.88 grade point average through the fall of 2007, majoring in sports management. This is Burke's first selection to the Academic All-District Team.

Burke has played in 106 games in his career to date, averaging 5.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game over four seasons. As an accomplished outside shooter, Burke has connected on 37.3 percent of his three-point attempts in his four years.

The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from institutions within District III, which includes the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
