GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Clemente Martin scored 20 points off the bench to lead visiting Newberry College to a 66-64 win over Tusculum College Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Arena.  The Indians (11-13, 5-7 SAC) increase their winning streak to four games and complete the season sweep over Tusculum (13-12, 4-8 SAC).  Newberry also claims its first victory in Greeneville in five years.

Martin shot 6-for-9 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the free throw line to go along with his six rebounds.  Zach Chandler added 14 points, while Sammy Monroe posted 13 markers and a pair of blocks in the win.

Tusculum was paced by senior Douglas Tshomba's 23 points and eight rebounds.  Tshomba, playing in his final regular season home game at Tusculum, went 7-for-10 from the field, including 4-of-5 from downtown.  Chris Poore accounted for 19 points while Jordan Lear scored 17 points in the loss.

The Pioneers out-shot (51.1%-40.7%) and out-rebounded (33-29) Newberry, but the Indians played a tough defense that forced 26 turnovers, resulting in 22 points.

Newberry went on a 13-2 run in the opening half to take a 24-11 lead following a jumper by Monroe at the 6:02 mark.  TC trimmed the deficit with 11 unanswered points over the next two minutes to trail 24-22.  But Newberry closed out the half with a 5-0 spurt to take a 29-22 lead into the locker room.

The Indians got a pair of free throws from Chandler to open the second period and move up again by nine (33-21).  Tusculum answered with a 13-4 run to regain the lead and move ahead 38-35 with 15:46 left following a three-point play by Tyler White.

The lead would change hands five more times in the second half, with neither team enjoying more than a four point advantage.  The Indians took the lead for good at 61-60 following Chandler's three-pointer with 2:48 left in the contest.

Newberry held Tusculum without a field goal in the final 3:49 as the Pioneers got only two shots off during that span.  The Pioneers stayed in the game as they made their last five free throw attempts, while the Indians shot 2-of-7 from the free throw line in the final three minutes.  But Newberry came up with several critical offensive rebounds down the stretch.  The biggest one came with Newberry holding onto a 65-64 lead with a dozen seconds left.  Chandler missed a pair of free throws, but Tusculum tipped the rebound out of bounds as Newberry maintained possession.  Alonzo Hinds made of two free throws, giving the Indians a two-point lead with 8.1 seconds left.  The Pioneers got one more chance, but senior Donald Sexton's three-pointer at the buzzer hit the rim to end the game.

Tusculum will close out the regular season with a pair of games on the road, including Wednesday's clash at Presbyterian College.  Newberry will also be away on Wednesday as the travel to Hickory, N.C. to take on Lenoir-Rhyne College.  Both games start at 8 p.m.
