Indians ranked in national statistics in free throw shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – Newberry’s men’s basketball team is ranked in the top 30 in free throw shooting while Alonzo Hinds is ranked nationally in the top 15 in the most recent NCAA Division II statistical report. Zach Chandler is ranked in the top 50 in free throw shooting as well.

As a team, Newberry is shooting 73.6% from the line which is good enough to be ranked 29th nationally. Grand Canyon College leads the country, shooting 79.7% from the charity stripe.

Meanwhile, Alonzo Hinds is ranked 12th nationally in free throw shooting, dropping 88.2% of his free shots in the bucket. Zach Chandler made the national lists with an 84.0% percentage from the line. Zach Green of Alderson-Broaddus leads the country with a 95.7% from the free throw line.

The Indians host Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a game televised by Time Warner Cable. Fans can gain admittance to the game for just $1 if they wear Newberry Scarlet.
