NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry guard Zach Chandler (Greenville, S.C.) buried a three-pointer on Newberry's last possession to give his team a four-point cushion with 15 seconds remaining, and the Indians would go on to win 74-68 over Limestone College Wednesday night at Eleazer Arena.

Newberry improves to 5-3 with the win.

Limestone (2-6) trimmed a 12-point Indian lead at the 11-minute mark down to a single point when forward Antonio Golden (College Park, Ga.) hit an unlikely three-pointer from the top of the key with 47 ticks on the clock.

Chandler's answer came from the right side of the court with three seconds on the shot clock to go up 72-68.  The Saints turned the ball over with six seconds remaining, and Michael Dease (Bennettsville, S.C.) created the final margin with two successful foul shots.

Newberry scored the first ten points of the game and kept a double-digit lead for a six-minute span in the first period.  Limestone cut the lead to eight with a Marquintas Jones (Denmark, Tenn.) jumper at the buzzer, and Newberry entered the locker room with a 35-27 advantage.

Indian guard Cory Etheridge (Columbia, S.C.) made the first basket of the second period, giving Newberry a lead that would not drop below ten until the 10:11 mark.  Andre Coleman (Clermont, Fla.) scored a layup that would trigger a 8-1 Limestone spurt and draw the Saints as close as 57-53.  Another 13-6 run put the Saints down a point after the Golden trifecta.

Clemente Martin (Freeport, Bahamas) was a workhorse for Newberry, netting 15 points and eight rebounds, both game highs.  Chandler and Alonzo Hinds (Freeport, Bahamas) each registered ten points.

Limestone's Jones and Shawn Poppie (Crescent City, Ill.) tied Martin's game-high 15 points.  Sumner Benton (Charlotte, N.C.) poured in 11 and Alex Bailey (Blacksburg, S.C.) added 10 in the losing cause.

Newberry faces CVAC opponent Erskine College Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon, 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game which begins at 2.  Limestone hosts North Greenville Saturday at 7:30.
