Newberry hits the road for the first time in this young season, traveling to Aiken, S.C. for the South Atlantic Conference-Peach Belt Conference Clash. Up first for the Scarlet and Gray will be host USC Aiken, who Newberry topped last year, 72-69. Coach Golden is 1-0 against the Pacers all-time. Newberry will take on Lander on Nov. 26 at Aiken in the second day of the SAC-Peach Belt Clash at 5:30 p.m.

Last Time Out
Newberry College outscored North Greenville University 22-5 over the final four minutes of the second period to get the come-from-behind win, 87-72, in college basketball action Saturday afternoon in Eleazer Arena. Newberry’s 22-for-26 performance from the free throw line, including eight of nine during the final three minutes, was instrumental in the comeback.
Next Up for Newberry
Next on the slate for the Indians will be the second of two match-ups in the SAC-Peach Belt Clash as Newberry takes on the Bearcats of Lander University at Aiken, S.C. The game will be Newberry’s first neutral site game of the season. Lander and Newberry squared off in last year’s SAC-Peach Belt Clash, also at a neutral site, with the Bearcats taking the 83-77 victory. Shaun Golden is 2-2 all-time in neutral site games as a head coach.
Newberry won its first two games of the season for the first time since the 1994-95 campaign.
Sammy Monroe has scored double-digit points in both of the Indians’ games so far, notching 14 against Anderson and then put up 16 against North Greenville.

Coming to America
Newberry features five international players on the 2005-06 roster. Two hail from the continent of Africa with Eric Nwawel coming from Cameroon and Seven Ezumba hailing from Nigeria. Three members of the squad have a islands background with Alonzo Hinds, Antoinne Frazier and Clemente Martin coming from the Bahamas.
