Dease earns second team All-SAC honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Newberry shooting guard Michael Dease (Bennettsville, S.C.) has been named to the 2004 All South Atlantic Conference second team league officials announced today.

Dease, in his first full season as a starter, averaged 15.7 points per game to lead the Indians in scoring.  Dease was consistently ranked among the top five scorers in the conference this season.  He also led the team in free throw percentage (.804) and three-point shots made (60).

Dease led the Indians in scoring in 15 games this season.  He notched a then career-high 27 markers in Newberry’s season opener against Georgia College & State University on 11/15, then broke that mark three games later by scoring 29 points against Erskine College on 11/23.

Newberry plays their first round game of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament this coming Wednesday, March 3rd, on the campus of #1 seed Catawba College.
