NEWBERRY, SC - Newberry College mens basketball coach David Conrady announced the hiring of two new assistants for the 2003-2004 season today. Tony Jasick and Zeb Reid will join Conrady on the bench this year as the Indians make a push towards the top of the South Atlantic Conference.

Jasick comes to Newberry fresh off of coaching stints at Division II programs at UNC Pembroke and Lincoln Memorial University. He is a 2000 graduate of SAC rival Mars Hill College, having played at Muskegon Community College, where he earned Academic All-American status as an honorable mention all-conference performer and team captain. He hails from Whitehall, Michigan, where he played his high school basketball.

Jasick earned a Masters Degree in Education from Lincoln Memorial in 2002 and earned a Master of Education concentration in Health, P.E. and Recreation from the University of North Alabama and UNC Pembroke later that year. Jasick will also serve as men's cross country coach at Newberry.

Reid is no stranger to the Newberry Basketball program, having played for the Indians for three seasons. He is a 2002 graduate of Newberry and one of the most prolific three-point shooters in team history. He nailed nearly 200 trifectas in a career totaling almost 800 points. He spent the last basketball season as an assistant coach at Newberry High School.

Im very excited to add Tony and Zeb to our staff for this upcoming year, said Conrady, who enters his second year at the helm of the program. These guys will bring a unique combination of being able to relate and motivate our players here at Newberry. Our emphasis will be player development as we continue to get our returning and new players to improve as basketball players.

With a lot of graduation in our conference and the fact that we have so many players returning and the addition of Tony and Zeb, we feel we have a chance to move up in this league.

Newberry College is a proud member of the South Atlantic Conference, a league made up of eight colleges and universities in North and South Carolina and Tennessee.
