BELMONT, N.C. - The Wolves traveled to face the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey on Wednesday only to fall to them 2-1.

Both teams were evenly matched throughout the entire game with the first goal being scored in the 29th minute of the first half. Newberry (2-2, 1-1) was able to notch four shots while Belmont Abbey (3-0, 2-0) recorded six.

Newberry's Brady Keeler scored in the 33rd minute of the first half to even the game at 1-1. She scored unassisted on a loose ball which she blasted into the goal past Belmont keeper Paige Hinds. Keeler is currently on a two-game scoring streak. In Monday's victory over Mercy she scored one of the Wolves' goals and scored the only goal in this contest against the Crusaders. She has also upped her season goal total to four.

Belmont Abbey's first goal came in the 29th minute of the first half from Kayley Williams to take the lead at 1-0. The Crusaders doubled their lead later in the final minutes of the first half on a goal from Demetria Barrow.

The Wolves return to Setzler Field Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m to host the Valkyries of Converse College.
