Hannah Dave

Hannah Dave was promoted to head field hockey coach at Newberry College in March 2017. She served as the program's interim head coach in the spring semester of 2016 and 2017 and was an assistant coach at Newberry for two seasons.

During her time on the sidelines at Setzler Field, the program has undergone dramatic improvement. Newberry has accumulated nine wins over the past two seasons, including a school-record six-win campaign in 2016. The Wolves notched the program’s first-ever winning streak in October by winning three consecutive one-goal games, two of which came in overtime.

Dave, a four-year starter at Limestone College, was previously the assistant coach at Asheville (N.C.) HS as well as the field hockey trainer at the YMCA of Western North Carolina.

As a player, Dave helped start the field hockey program at conference rival Limestone, where she was a four-year starter.
She helped Limestone to a winning record by the progrm's third year and 29 wins overall in her four years on the team. Her junior year saw the Saints collect their first-ever win over a ranked opponent, No. 10 Adelphi, and over Division I Liberty in back-to-back games and marked Limestone's ascension to a nationally-ranked defense.

In her junior and senior seasons, Limestone ranked fifth and fourth, respectively, in goals against average despite ranking in the bottom six nationally in saves per game, a testament to the Saints' defensive prowess.

She played high school field hockey at Asheville High, where she helped lead her team to four conference championships, three regional championships and two state runner-up finishes. She was the 2008 defensive player of the year and was named all-state and all-region as a sophomore and a junior and earned all-conference recognition three times.

She has also worked in club field hockey in her native North Carolina, assisting in coaching duties for the North Carolina TarDevils indoor program and spending time running outdoor clinics and camps.

At the end of the 2017-2018 season, Newberry:

  • Won season opener, first time in program history
  • Won conference opener against Mercy, first time in program history
  • Ended regular season with 6-14 overall record and 3-7 in the conference
  • Notched fourth seed in 2017 ECAC Division II Field Hockey Tournament
  • Tied program record for most wins in a season at six

Dave coached three All-ECAC student-athletes; Brady Keeler (First Team), Farai Kawonde (Second Team), and Dominique Milian (Second Team).
