INDIANAPOLIS – Thanks to a three-game winning streak, the Newberry Wolves are ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Super Region II football rankings, released Monday.

Headed into the final week of the regular season, Newberry sits just one spot out of playoff qualification with a Division II and in-region record of 6-3.

The Division II playoff field has been expanded this year to include the top seven teams. Newberry is ranked just behind No. 6 Florida Tech and No. 7 Valdosta State, who play each other this weekend. Newberry has a head-to-head win over FIT from the first week of the season.

West Georgia leads the region, followed by North Alabama, Catawba, Carson-Newman and Tuskegee. Following the crucial logjam of Florida Tech, Valdosta State and Newberry are North Greenville and West Alabama.

With the final week of the regular season to be played this Saturday, the Division II playoff field will be announced at 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 15.

Newberry completes its regular season schedule at Wingate, with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
