Newberry welcomes fans for Oktoberfest
Wednesday, October 21, 2015

NEWBERRY - The City of Newberry and Newberry College invite fans for the four home games this weekend to make sure you stop by Historic Downtown Newberry and the annual Oktoberfest, which takes place this Saturday.

Oktoberfest was originally slated for earlier this month, but the massive rains and flooding issues throughout the state pushed the event to Saturday, October 24.

"Saturday will be a great day to spend in Newberry with Oktoberfest and four home Newberry College games happening on the same day! There's all day fun for the entire family within a few City blocks!" said Newberry assistant city manager and Newberry College alumnus Matt DeWitt.

The festival will feature authentic German cuisine, German Biergarten, and plenty of art & craft vendors. Our Rocktoberfest stage will feature polka music, variety hits, and our Best German Costume contest! We'll also host the Chamber of Commerce liver nips contest and FREE Kids Activities! And don't forget, the Newberry Oktoberfest is FREE admission!

The event starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m.

On campus home games are:

  • Field Hockey vs. Lindenwood - 11 a.m.
  • Women's Soccer vs. Mars Hill - 12:30 p.m.
  • Men's Soccer vs. Mars Hill - 3 p.m.
  • Football vs. Brevard - 3 p.m.
