ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Newberry College senior outside linebacker Edmond Robinson has accepted a bid to the 90th East-West Shrine Game, as announced by Shriners International on Tuesday.
The game will be played at St. Petersburg's Tropicana Field at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015. It will also be televised live on the NFL Network.
Robinson, a native of Wadmalaw Island and graduate of St. John's HS, wrapped up his career with 200 tackles in 41 career games. He had 23.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks. three quarterback hurries, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 15 pass breakups in his career.
He was a first team all-South Atlantic Conference and DAKTRONICS first team all-Super Region Two selection in 2013. He is expected to be on numerous postseason all-star lists for his 2014 performance as they are released throughout the postseason.
In his senior season, Robinson had 68 tackles with 7.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and a quarterback hurries. He had a season-best 13 tackles in the Homecoming game against Lenoir-Rhyne and 11 tackles in the season finale at North Greenville.
Robinson is the first non-Division I student-athlete to accept a bid to this year's East-West Shrine Game. [East-West Acceptances]
