KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Former Newberry College All-American Ron Parker put a wrap on a successfule weekend for Newberry alumni in the NFL in the Kansas City Chiefs' 30-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Parker grabbed his first interception of the 2014 preseason on a deep ball by Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassell. He had two passes defended on other throws in the second quarter, also making a tackle. He had a tackle on special teams kickoff coverage in the second half.

Kamaal McIlwain made three tackles from his cornerback position for the Buffalo Bills in their 24-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had his highest percentage of playing time so far this preseason, appearing in 29% of the Bills' defensive plays.

Brandon Bostick did not play for the Green Bay Packers in their 31-21 win over the Oakland Raiders. The tight end was held out of the game as a precautionary measure due to an injury he sustained in the game against St. Louis on August 16.

These three players and New York Giants' receiver Corey Washington are still fighting for spots on their respective teams' 53-man rosters.

The NFL-mandated cut to 75 players is this Tuesday at 4 p.m., with the 53-man roster cut happening on this upcoming Saturday, August 30, at 4 p.m.

Newberry's four NFL players have one more game to impress their organizations, with the final preseason games this week.
