GREEN BAY, Wisc. - Newberry College offensive lineman Jamal Ellis has signed on for a rookie tryout with the NFL's Green Bay Packers, as announced late Saturday night.

The D2Football.com second team All-American will participate in tryout drills at the Packers' rookie mini-camp next weekend. The Pelzer native was a first team DAKTRONICS and second team Don Hansen's Football Gazette all-Super Region Two selection. The first team all-SAC selection started every game in the 2013 season at left guard for the Wolves, blocking for one of the most balanced offenses in the nation. The Wolves conceded approximately two sacks a game and rushed for 2,143 yards on the season.

Ellis has a chance to join former Newberry teammate Brandon Bostick on the Packers' roster and become one of four Wolves on an NFL roster. Also in the league are cornerback Ron Parker with the Kansas City Chiefs and newly-signed wide receiver Corey Washington with the Arizona Cardinals.
