MIAMI - Newberry College senior Jordan McDonnell is slated to participate in the Fourth Annual National Bowl Game this Sunday, December 8. The game will be played at Noon on Sunday at Florida International University's Alfonso Field.
McDonnell, a hybrid back from Bluffton, was Newberry's leading receiver out of the backfield with 23 receptions for 235 yards and also had a rushing touchdown. He is also a member of The Order of the Gray Stripe, the football team's honor council.
According to its website, the National Bowl Game "is the only elite non-FBS postseason all-star game that sees scouts from several NFL teams along with the CFL and arena leagues. The bowl rosters are unique in that they give the NFL, CFL and additional scouts a chance to view and get to know some of the best players from smaller schools many college football fans may not have even heard of."
McDonnell is the first of many Wolves expected to participate in all-star games following the second playoff season in 100 years of Newberry football.
