GREEN BAY, Wisc., and KANSAS CITY, Mo. - When the 2013 NFL season starts this upcoming weekend, Newberry College will be represented on two teams' final 53-man roster, as announced by their respective clubs this week.

Tight end Brandon Bostick survived a serious position battle throughout training camp and will be one of four tight ends on the opening day roster for the Green Bay Packers. Sunday's season opener against the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers (4:25 p.m., Fox) will mark his first game on an active roster. He spent the 2013 season on the Packers' practice squad.

Cornerback Ron Parker was waived by the Seattle Seahawks in their final round of cuts, but was almost immediately picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs. The 2013 season will be Parker's third year in the NFL, as he has appeared for the Seahawks, Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders in 2011 and 2012. The Chiefs start their season on Sunday at the Jacksonville Jaguars (1 p.m., CBS).

With these roster assignments, Newberry has the fourth-most players on an active NFL roster of any school in South Carolina. South Carolina has 24 players, Clemson has 21 players, Coastal Carolina has three players, while Newberry, The Citadel and South Carolina State have two each and Presbyterian has one.

Newberry also represents half of the South Atlantic Conference's NFL active contingent, as Carson-Newman also has two active NFL players in Chiefs' defensive lineman Anthony Toribio and Dallas Cowboys' punter Chris Jones.
