GREEN BAY, Wisc. - Former Newberry College wide receiver Brandon Bostick will participate in tryout activities with the Green Bay Packers at the team's rookie orientation this weekend as confirmed by the club Friday.
The Florence, S.C., native finished his career near the top of the Newberry College record books in every receiving category with 136 receptions (fourth), 1,935 yards (third) and 19 touchdowns (second). Bostick had 35 catches for 439 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011, as well as nine carries for 58 yards and a touchdown. His eight touchdowns led the Wolves in scoring in 2011. In 2010, he had 48 receptions for 839 yards and eight touchdowns. He earned SAC and national offensive player of the week honors in the win over Tusculum with 11 receptions for a school-, SAC- and state-record 322 yards and three touchdowns. He ranked fifth in the league with 93.2 receiving yards per game and eighth in the SAC with 5.33 receptions per game.
Bostick is participating in non-padded on-field workouts today through Sunday with the chance to earn a rookie free agent contract. The orientation weekend is the rookies' first exposure to the offensive, defensive and special teams playbooks. The three days of meetings and workouts provide a brief introduction.
