OAKLAND, Calif. - Former Newberry College defensive back Ron Parker has moved slightly south along the west coast, as he was signed to the practice squad of the National Football League's Oakland Raiders on Monday.
Parker had been with the Seattle Seahawks through training camp, and was on the Seahawks practice squad roster until September 22. The Raiders jumped on the chance to sign the 10-time Division II All-American to their practice squad on Monday.
In the preseason for Seattle, Parker made a solo tackle in the fourth quarter in a 23-20 loss to the Denver Broncos in the third preseason game.
Parker has been assigned the number 36 jersey and is one of eight players listed on the practice squad.
