LIBERTY, Mo. - Newberry College defensive lineman Arterio Arnold has been named a second team preseason All-American by, as announced by the website on Monday morning. This is Arnold's second preseason All-American honor, as he was also named to the Lindy's magazine honor list.

Arnold, a 6-foot-2, 300-lbs. junior from Greenville, was also Newberry's only preseason first team all-South Atlantic Conference honoree. Arnold was a second team all-South Atlantic Conference selection in 2010 after leading the conference in tackles for loss per game, with 1.4 stops behind the line of scrimmage per game. He had 72 total tackles in 2010, with 14 tackles for loss, three sacks and nine quarterback hurries. He notched a career-high 13 tackles against Carson-Newman.

Arnold is one of six South Atlantic Conference players named to the teams, and he will have the pleasure of competing against two of those on opposing offensive lines, as Lenoir-Rhyne's Chandler Rearden is a first team selection and Wingate's Mike Arndt is on the second team. Also on the second team are Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell, Mars Hill running back Jonas Randolph and Wingate defensive back Robert Fletcher.

Arnold and the Newberry Wolves start the 2011 season at historic Setzler Field on September 3 against North Greenville. The season opener is set to kickoff at 6:30 p.m.
