LIBERTY, Mo. - The Newberry College football team moved up to the No. 20 spot nationally in this week's D2Football.com Media Poll, which was released today.
Newberry (1-1 overall) had last weekend off following a 34-23 loss at Division I Football Championship Subdivision opponent Austin Peay. Newberry is 1-0 against Division II competition with the 31-24 win at Valdosta State to open the season.
The scarlet and gray are one of two South Atlantic Conference teams in the Top 25, with Catawba (3-0) ranked 12th in the country. Catawba has this week off after opening the season with wins against St. Augustine's, Fayetteville State and Livingstone.
Elsewhere in Super Region Two, the Gulf South Conference has three teams in the Top 25 (No. 3 North Alabama, No. 11 Delta State and No. 14 Valdosta State), while the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is represented by two teams (No. 22 Albany State and No. 23 Tuskegee).
