NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry College Athletics is eager to announce that we will be sponsoring a “Take a Kid to the Game” (TAKG) day this year at our football game vs. South Atlantic Conference rival Carson-Newman College on Saturday, September 27.
Kids ages 14 and younger will receive a free ticket with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket to watch Newberry College football at Setzler Field.
Newberry is one of over 200 schools across the nation that is hosting a game in this campaign focused on allowing youth the opportunity to attend college football games. The Take a Kid to the Game program is entering its twelfth year in the promotion of collegiate athletics.
The game begins at 1:30 p.m., but there are multiple opportunities for kids to come early and soak in the atmosphere. All children who attend our TAKG will have the chance to have their photo taken wearing an authentic Newberry College football jersey and helmet before or during the game. They will also receive a Newberry College football poster and a coupon for a free Happy Meal, courtesy of McDonald's, as they enter the field.
In addition to the event, our Newberry College cheerleaders will be holding a clinic for girls of all ages starting at 7:30 am. For a nominal cost, these cheer prodigies will spend the morning with the college squad where they will receive a cheer clinic t-shirt and will learn a routine which they will perform at halftime of the football game. For more information, you may contact Kristen Regenscheit at 803-947-2113 or Kristen.Regenscheit@newberry.edu .
We encourage you to save the date. Newberry College is excited about this event in which kids from the community will have a chance to be a part of our game day experience and support NCAA Football's Take a Kid to the Game program. This game day experience is an opportunity for children to spend quality time with a parent or role model and learn about sportsmanship that can be demonstrated on the playing field.
Tickets for this special game are available now and can be purchased at the Newberry College ticket office. For more information, contact Carrie Snyder at 803-321-5101 or Carrie.Snyder@newberry.edu .
