NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College football team will hold its spring game this coming Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Setzler Field. Admission is free and the game is open to the public.
Head Coach Zak Willis and the coaching staff will lead the team in a scrimmage which will last approximately an hour and a half. Following the game, fans will get a chance to meet with the players.
Following the Spring Game, fans are encouraged to attend our spring sports' contests in crucial South Atlantic Conference battles. The softball team takes on nationally-ranked Carson-Newman in a doubleheader, while the baseball team hosts Lincoln Memorial at the Smith Road Complex. Both contests begin at 1 p.m.
The Indians are in the midst of the best run in program history, as they have gone 20-4 over the last two seasons. Newberry has been a force at home, currently maintaining a 15-game home winning streak.
During the game, donations will be accepted for the Brian Moore Recovery Fund. Brian was a defensive lineman on the Indians' football team, but was severely injured in an automobile accident in June 2007. He is now paralyzed and in need of a wheelchair accessible van to help transport him.
