MOBILE, Ala. - Practices for the 2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl have begun, and Newberry College fans will have a chance to follow one of their own via the internet and the NFL Network. Offensive lineman Heath Benedict will wear number 78 for the South squad coached by the coaching staff of the San Francisco 49ers.
Beginning Tuesday, the NFL Network (DirecTV channel 212 [HD available], Dish Network channel 154 [HD available], check with your provider for other networks) will air live coverage of the South team's practices. Here are air times for the South:
Tuesday - 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday - 4:30 p.m.
Thursday - 4:30 p.m.

Benedict, the first Division II - and South Atlantic Conference - player in the Senior Bowl since Tusculum's Ricardo Colclough in 2004, is one of nine offensive lineman for the South team. He is joined up front by Bowling Green's Kory Lichtensteiger, Arkansas' Robert Felton, Texas A&M's Cody Wallace, Clemson's Barry Richardson, Wake Forest's Steve Justice, Pittsburgh's Mike McGlynn, Vanderbilt's Chris Williams and UTEP's Oneil Cousins.
The linemen will be blocking for some the 2007 season's headliners including quarterbacks Colt Brennan (Hawai'i), Andre Woodson (Kentucky) and Erik Ainge (Tennessee). Running backs include LSU's Jacob Hester, Kentucky's Rafael Little, Tulane's Matt Forte, Arkansas' Peyton Hillis and Georgia Tech's Tashard Choice.
