Indians ranked 19th nationally in final poll

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College football team is ranked 19th nationally in the final National Poll for the 2007 season, it was announced today. The Indians are ranked in the final poll for the second straight year.

The Indians finished the season with a record of 9-2 overall and a 4-2 record in South Atlantic Conference play. The two losses came to Catawba, which is ranked 13th in the final poll, and Carson-Newman, which earned a final ranking of 15th.

Eight Newberry players earned all-South Atlantic Conference honors this year, as the Indians won the second most games in program history. The Indians have gone 20-4 in the last two seasons, and are have a 15-game winning streak at Setzler Field.

Founded in 1856, Newberry College is affiliated with the South Carolina, Southeastern, Florida-Bahamas, and Caribbean Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Newberry is a proud member institution of the NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference, a league comprised of eight colleges and universities in North and South Carolina and Tennessee.
