Newberry back in AFCA poll at No. 25

WACO, Texas - After two weeks outside of the Top 25, the Newberry College Indians are ranked 25th nationally in this week's American Football Coaches' Association Division II Coaches' Poll, which was released today.

The Indians (6-2, 2-2 South Atlantic Conference) return to the the top 25 following last week's 31-23 road victory over then-No. 18 Wingate. The Bulldogs dropped from the poll this week.

This week's opponent, Tusculum College, is at the top of the SAC standings and received 12 votes in the poll. Carson-Newman is ranked 13th, while Catawba is tied for 15th with Shepherd.

Newberry will look to push further ahead in the national, regional and SAC tables when the Indians play Tusculum this Saturday. The game on Lutheran Youth Day is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Setzler Field in Newberry.
