Indians ranked 20th in D2Football.com poll

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College football team is ranked 20th in NCAA Division II according to this week's D2Football.com Media Poll, which was released today.

The Indians (5-2, 1-2 South Atlantic Conference) rise two spots following Saturday's 48-24 defeat of Mars Hill on Homecoming night.

Newberry is one of three South Atlantic Conference schools listed in the top 25 of the poll. Undefeated Catawba is ranked 9th, while Carson-Newman comes in at 15th.

The Indians are recognized in other national polls as well this week. The team received 35 votes in the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) poll, and is in 26th spot. Newberry received the most votes outside of the top 25.

Also, the Indians are ranked 28th by CollegeSportsReport.com and 32nd by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.

Newberry takes on Wingate University, which is ranked 18th in the AFCA poll, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The game will be available for viewing on the NCAA's Division II webstream at http://www.cstv.com/ncaa/divii/ .
