Newberry stays at No. 12 in Football Gazette

WESTMONT, Ill. - The Newberry College Indians are ranked in No. 12 in the Don Hansen's Football Gazette Division II Top 40 poll, which was released today. Newberry (3-0) earned its third straight win in a Thursday night battle at North Greenville, 39-20.

Alex Haynes rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns and caught one more, while quarterbacks Eric McCollom and Brandon Gantt eached passed for over 130 yards and two touchdowns.

The Indians are the highest ranked South Atlantic Conference team in the Football Gazette poll for the second week in a row. Carson-Newman is ranked 16th, Catawba is ranked 20th and Wingate is ranked 32nd. All four teams are currently undefeated.

Newberry wraps up its non-conference schedule on Saturday, as the Indians welcome the West Georgia Wolves to Setzler Field. The Newberry campus is celebrating the "Weekend of Champions" and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
