NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry College football team will take to the field for the last time this spring for the annual Spring Game set for a 12 noon start this Saturday at Setzler Field. The game will last approximately 90 minutes with the team being split up into offense (White) and defense (Red).
Admission to the game is free and the concession stand will be open for fans at Setzler Field. The gates will open at 11:00 a.m. In addition, a donation table will be set up at the side gate in hopes of raising money for six-year old Joseph Greenwood.
Joseph, who lives in Florence, S.C., became ill in March of 2006 when doctors concluded that a virus attacked his heart. In August of 2006, he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and it was determined that he needed a Berlin Device transplant. The cost for this device and the transplant is calculated at $500,000.
It is the hope of the Newberry College football program and the entire Indian Athletic Department that fans attending this Saturday’s game will contribute whatever amount they can to help Joseph and his family.
