Indians Listed in This Week's NCAA Statistics

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry College football team is listed prominently in this week’s NCAA Division II statistics, which were released on Thursday.

The Indian defense is tied with several Division II teams for the top spot in scoring defense.  Newberry is also ranked 8th in total defense, allowing only 102 yards per-game. 

Individually, kicker Ryan Lukshis is tied for the national lead in field goals per-game with three.  A trio of defensive players in Levi Bennett, Charlton Grant, and Mike Grase are ranked fourth in the nation in forced fumbles.  Grant also ranks 12th in the nation in tackles for loss with 3.0.

On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Josh Stepp ranks 12th in passing efficiency with 178.8 while running back Alex Haynes is 23rd in rushing yards with 123.

The Indians will host Morehead State University on Saturday at Setzler Field.  Kickoff is set for 12 noon.
